In this article, I will give you a detailed look at the AAXA M7 portable LED projector. This new addition to the AAXA line is a Quad Cast LED-powered, full 1080p projector rated to deliver up to 1200 LED lumens. It retails at a competitive price of $488.00 on the AAXA website.
The M7 is the first Pico projector that I’ve had the opportunity to review. In my research, I was pleased to see that AAXA is well known and celebrated in the Pico and Micro projector category. AAXA’s products have been winning awards and garnering accolades since their early days in this class of projectors.

The M7 is a High Definition (HD) 1920 x 1080 portable Digital Light Processing (DLP®) projector. AAXA rates the M7’s brightness at 1200 LED lumens. I will be testing how this number translates to actual ANSI lumens. AAXA specifies that the M7 Osram Quad Cast LED light source can last up to 30,000 hours in ECO mode. The AAXA M7 has a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $488.00.
This projector appears to be the direct successor of the AAXA M6 PICO projector and the little brother to the AAXA 4K1 projector recently reviewed by my colleague Dave Duncan. Check that review out because Dave did a fantastic job! The M7 has an updated design and feature set vs. the M6. The M7 weighs 2.99 lbs and measures a compact 7.3 inches x 6.4 inches x 1.85 inches.
The AAXA M7 could be used in both personal and professional applications. It is an all-around useful little projector. I see the M7 being used by a college student or as a home entertainment projector. It would also be handy if you travel a lot and want to project up to a 200-inch diagonal image or are a casual on-the-go gamer.
The M7 is bright enough to handle the challenging lighting conditions found in many conference and training rooms. This versatile little projector has so many possible uses that I can’t confine it to only one specific category. It’s great for business, education, and home use. The M7’s portability and competitive price assure that it can comfortably live in the consumer and professional worlds.
The AAXA M7 uses a single 0.33-inch Texas Instruments Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) DLP imager, providing full HD 1920 x 1080 display resolution.

The M7’s compact, portable design makes the projector suitable to bring with you to a friend’s house when enjoying some movies or casual gaming. The M7 is good at handling ambient light while delivering acceptable color reproduction.
One of the most compelling features of the M7 is the built-in lithium-ion battery rated at 3,650 milliamp-hours (mAh) which should last up to three hours in ECO mode. The M7 displays 1080p resolution but it will accept 4K signals. The M7 has a manufacturer-rated 2000:1 contrast ratio and features a built-in 4-watt stereo sound system. It’s like AAXA took an excellent Full HD home theater projector, added a battery, and then squeezed it down into a form factor that would easily fit into an adult’s hand.
The M7 has a built-in media player for PC-free presenting that allows playback of video, audio, text, and photo files from USB-A, USB-C, or Micro-SD card inputs. This projector comes with a decent number of inputs and connectors, with everything one would reasonably need, including HDMI, Composite AV, and Audio-Out ports.
The M7 is capable of projecting crisp and vibrant Full-HD images up to 200-inches. You could go higher than 200 inches but the bigger the image, the less bright, colorful, and detailed it appears.
When putting the M7 through its paces I used a Da-Lite Cosmopolitan screen at 100 inches diagonal.
