CHRISTIE LWU530 PROJECTOR REVIEW – SUMMARY: Highlights, Value Proposition, Pros and Cons
The Christie LWU530-APS is a 5,000 ANSI lumen business class laser projector with WUXGA (1,920 x 1,200) resolution, that can accept 4K content. It is part of Christie's APS-Series which is the manufacturer’s most affordable lineup of mid-brightness laser projectors.
The LWU530’s laser light engine is rated for 20,000 hours of maintenance free operation in high power. The LWU530 includes advanced networking capabilities that include network control, remote monitoring and IP content playback.
It has flexible input/output options, on-board 16W speaker, omni-directional installation capabilities make it a great option for classrooms, museums, and small-sized auditoriums.
The LWU530 is part of Christie’s APS-Series projector lineup whose goal is to produce a mid-brightness business/education laser projector at an affordable price. Many 5,000 lumen business projectors under $2,500 are DLP units. Since the LWU530 is a 3LCD unit, its color brightness output (Lumens) equals its white Lumens output which can result in better color reproduction.
There are a couple of 5,000 lumen laser WUXGA projectors available in the LWU530’s price range including the NECP525UL and Panasonic PTVMZ50U both which I reviewed this year. Feature and performance wise, the three units are pretty similar.
The main exception is that the LWU530 has a DICOM SIM picture mode which is great for medical education applications. The Christie LWU also has a more extensive video adjustments which makes it easier to precisely fine tune the image to fit your environment
The Christie LWU530’s combination of value, high-brightness, compact chassis, installation flexibility, and maintenance-free operation makes it a great option for a classroom or a conference room.
