CINEGREY 4D SCREEN MATERIAL

CineGrey 4D Screen Material rejects up to 63% of ambient room lighting

Elite Pro AV offers several different ceiling/ambient light rejecting screen materials. CineGrey 4D is angular reflecting ALR material capable of rejecting up to 63% of ambient room lighting. It has a gain of 1.1 and a viewing angle of about 70 degrees. This CLR material is designed specifically for use with standard throw projectors.

When compared to matte white screen material the result is obvious. The CineGrey 4D material provides far more contrast than standard matte white screen material in a room with ambient light. Color contrast is enhanced with excellent fidelity and uniformity – blacks appear darker and colors seem richer.

The CineGrey 4D material was chosen for Presenter Pro Riser system because it is flexible enough to roll up into the unit’s enclosure and the material can be produced in sizes up to 150 inches. The ambient light rejecting properties assist in maintaining picture clarity that does not wash out like typical matte white surfaces do under ambient light conditions.

When paired with a business projector of sufficient brightness, Presenter Pro Riser does a great job displaying vivid colors and good contrast even in a room with moderate ambient light.

If you want to pair a screen with an ultra-short-throw projector, Elite Pro AV offers another motorized floor-rising screen system called the Kestrel Tab-Tension Dark UST. This model is designed specifically for UST – it offers a very wide viewing angle of 180 degrees while rejecting to up 95% of ambient light but it is only available in sizes up to 120-inches.

PICTURE QUALITY

As I mentioned earlier, Presenter Pro Riser CineGrey 4D screen was designed for commercial applications and does a great job displaying PowerPoint presentations and Excel spreadsheets. In addition to business uses like corporate boardrooms, home theater owners would enjoy both broadcast content and movies in rooms with low to moderate ambient light.

Presenter Pro Riser CineGrey 4D is a great solution for a meeting room

I used the Presenter Pro Riser CineGrey 4D screen during my review of the Sony GTZ380 since I needed to set up the projector at work due to the projector’s substantial size. Combining the GTZ380’s massive 10,000-lumen brightness with the CineGrey 4D’s material produced a stunning image that looked like a giant flat-panel TV.

During the day, I could literally watch TV with the curtains open. The image also looked excellent at night. During my time viewing the Elite ProAV Presenter Pro Riser, I didn’t notice any obvious artifacts or hot spots. When I compared the CineGrey 4D material to my matte white sample, any color shift was visually undetectable.

On-axis, the screen uniformity was great. However, you do need to consider that Presenter Pro Riser CineGrey 4D has a recommended viewing angle of about 70 degrees. While this should be fine for most applications, if your room is extremely wide, some audience members could be sitting too far off-axis. In that case, those viewers might experience a washed-out-looking image.

CONCLUSION

The Presenter Pro Riser CineGrey 4D is a floor-rising ALR screen system that two people can easily move from meeting room to meeting room or from venue to venue. The CineGrey does a great job rejecting low to moderate ambient light.

Its tab-tension, motorized, scissor lift system rises into position with the touch of a button. If you plan on moving the screen from place to place, this type of screen design can save you hours compared to assembling a soft-fixed screen on site. In permanent installations, the Presenter Pro Riser CineGrey 4D eliminates the cost and hassle of mounting and running power to a motorized screen located on the wall or in the ceiling.

While the screen was designed for professional applications, the image quality is so good I seriously considered purchasing the sample unit for my personal media room. If the sample had fit between my home theater speakers, I would have pulled the trigger, it was just a little too big.

However, over the past few months, I have recommended to multiple audio companies that they purchase Presenter Pro Riser CineGrey 4D screens to use at tradeshows for all sorts of home theater demos.

In closing, if you are looking for a high-quality motorized ALR screen that you can quickly set up and break down, you should definitely look at the Presenter Pro Riser CineGrey 4D. Highly recommended.
