VPL-PHZ10 LASER PROJECTOR REVIEW - SPECIAL FEATURES:  Constant Brightness, Laser (phosphor), 20,000 hours, Calibration, Panel alignment, Lens Shift (unequal), Self cleaning filter, HDBaseT, 360 degree operation

Constant Brightness

With a laser projector like this one, you can maintain the same brightness over years, by selecting the Constant Brightness feature. After additional testing Sony just advised that they have upped the specs.  Instead of 4000 lumens for 12,000 hours, Sony advises the full production versions will do constant brightness for 14,000 hours while maintaining 4500 lumens output.  Excellent!

The 5000 lumen spec is for full power, without engaging the constant feature.   This Constant Brightness feature makes the VPL-PHZ10 projector ideal in applications used in conjunction with other of these  projectors in an array where you need them all to have identical brightness to each other – over a long period of time.  That includes applications such as edge blending, and projection mapping (although this Sony does not support those particular features), as well as digital signage.
